The Bible App by “YouVersion” (iOS | Android | Web | Desktop)
(The World Map of Christian Apps: 48 tools every Christian should know about; by Jeffrey Kranz)

“It’s the Christian app of Christian apps. YouVersion’s app has been downloaded well over 100 million times. It’s quick, free, and probably the Bible app your friends use.” This description comes directly from their website: “Our focus remains on relevancy as we consistently strive to demonstrate and teach people how God’s Word relates to everyone, no matter where they are in life. [. . .] We aren’t just building a tool to impact the world using innovative technology, more importantly, we are engaging people into relationships with God as they discover the relevance the Bible has for their lives.”

“He taught in their synagogues and was glorified by everyone. Then Jesus came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up. As was His custom, He entered the synagogue on the Sabbath. And when He stood up to read, the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to Him. Unrolling it, He found the place where it was written..” Luke 4:15-17

Do you want to know what Jesus read from the scroll of Isaiah? Well, you will need to go to the bible and find the verses Luke 4:18-19. And if you had the app mentioned above (www.youversion.com/apps) (www.bible.com), you could go to it right away. In the old days, you needed to carry around your bible everywhere you went if you wanted to read the bible throughout the day. Now, it is as easy as looking at the “App” on your phone, computer, or other devices. There are no more excuses for not reading the word of
G-d. And to that, this pastor says “Amen!”

But, you say, you want to have some type of commentary to help you understand what is being said. Well, there are apps for that as well. And, there are places like “textweek.com” where you can find all kinds of commentaries and sermons and other comments about the scripture readings, at least for those used in the three year lectionary. Again, No Excuses!
